De uit Engeland afkomstige indie rockband, Fiction Plane, ontstaat in 2000 en breekt zeven jaar later in Nederland door met hit “Two Sisters.” De single is de 3FM megahit en zorgt hierdoor voor Fiction Plane veel bekendheid. Al vaker trad de band in Nederland op – Paaspop 2008 en Pinkpop – maar nu in Hedon.

Een veelbelovende band dus, maar het is eerst tijd voor de funky sound van A La Din. Deze band begint steeds meer bekendheid te krijgen in en rondom Zwolle, en valt ook in de smaak bij de Fiction Plane fans. De band start met hun nieuwe single “Summer Ground”, die onder de fans al bekend is. Strakke gitaarsolo’s, ijzersterke zangpartijen, funky baslijnen, keiharde drums en een uiterst vermakelijke stage performance, niets wordt het publiek onthouden. A La Din blijft een perfect voorprogramma te zijn voor Fiction Plane als iedereen het betreurt dat er nog maar tijd is voor één nummer. Een enkeling bekend zelfs schaamtevol enige tijd niet zeker te weten of het hoofdprogramma niet al bezig is.

Na een korte pauze is het dan de beurt aan de mannen van Fiction Plane. Frontman Joe Sumner is zeer goed in vorm. Zijn stem klinkt fantastisch en wordt naadloos aangevuld door zijn zelfgespeelde baslijnen. Gitarist Seton Daunt trakteert daarnaast het publiek op geweldig gitaarspel en achter de drums gezeten Pete Wilhoit blaast iedereen weg met zijn keiharde strakke drumpartijen.
Ook vandaag bewijst Fiction Plane maar weer eens waarom ze hoofdact op Paaspop waren en waarom ze zeer in hetzelfde jaar terecht op het hoofdpodium van Pinkpop 2008 stonden. Geen enkel nummer wordt overgeslagen. Fiction Plane speelt alles, maar voornamelijk nummers van hun nieuwste album Sparks (2010) passeren de revue. Geen enkel moment ontbreekt het aan passie, enthousiasme en interactie met het publiek. Springt op het ene moment de frontman Joe nog van de versterkers af bij een uptempo nummer, dan zoekt de band vervolgens weer de rust op bij een ballad. Ondanks de vele afwisseling tijdens dit concert is er dieconstante reggaeachtige sound aanwezig die Fiction Plane tot een fantastische te onderscheiden band maakt.
Kortom, het voorprogramma, de lichtshow tijdens het optreden van Fiction Plane en het heerlijke geluid van deze mannen en maken dit optreden en de hele avond tot een groot, muzikaal hoogtepunt.
